Engagement on the world scene
In November, Rome will be the capital of the 2014 World Congress of Accountants. Dubbed by some as the “Olympics of the Accountancy Profession”, the Congress is organised by IFAC only once every four years and attracts thousands of professionals from across the globe – more than 6,000 delegates from 134 countries attended the 18th World Congress of Accountants in Kuala Lumpur in 2010.
IFAC has 179 members from 130 countries and it is an honour and a privilege that ICAEW’s AuditFutures is one of the very few initiatives recognised with a dedicated panel session in the programme of the congress. We have been invited to share our thinking and ideas and to engage the global profession in a discussion about the new horizons for the profession. In addition to discussing our latest achievements and insights, we are bringing new perspectives to this world forum.
Let’s have a different conversation
We would like you to come and take part in designing the shape of our profession for years to come. With AuditFutures we explore the opportunities for accountancy and how we all can be part of the answer to the challenges our societies and economies are facing.
This World Congress is about building the future – let’s do it together!
Debate the new horizons
This panel session will be exciting, challenging and interesting. It is going to expand your mind. Our panellists are not accountants – they will bring new disciplines, new skills and new perspectives to change our thinking. They are here to highlight new possibilities: the world is changing, society’s requirements are changing, and the profession needs to change too – here’s your opportunity to be the change.
Come and talk to Brett Scott (journalist and activist), Lee Bryant (organisational strategist), Ivan Krastev (political scientist) and Nick De Leon (engineer and designer).
These four people are coming to provoke and challenge all of us. AuditFutures promotes a systemic view of the profession and expands in four dimensions – society, institutions, scope and people. Our speaker-challengers will spark our imagination in these four areas. The discussion will be chaired by Robert Hodgkinson (ICAEW Executive Director).
Your can read more about the panel session here.
Speak with our team during the World Congress
From Monday to Wednesday, our team will host the AuditFutures Café – informal chats with friends over coffee. We would love to hear from you and learn more about the insights from your experience of working in your society and economy. If you want to find out how you can organise similar programmes in your country we will be happy to share what we’ve learnt from our journey.
To schedule an individual time for at the AuditFutures Cafe, please visit ICAEW’s exhibition stand, send us a tweet @AuditFutures or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
